No one had prepared her for what she went through, from being a happy mother of four to landing in an ICU overnight. There had been no warning, no signs, and no one to turn to but herself.
Most times when a loved one lands in the ICU, they are unable to advocate for themselves.
The person she loved more than anything, who had held her hand throughout life, could no longer do that. They could no longer make choices together. The choices were left to her. She had to make the hardest choices of her life for him on the spot which could cost him his life. Every moment was life or death. She searched high and low for something to help her, but it just didn’t exist. That was why she decided to turn this negative, awful situation into a positive, beautiful, rewarding experience.
Every single thing she learned, all of the things that worked and didn’t, led her to share her story to help and inspire others.
It was not an easy road for Terez, but no one should have to walk the advocacy path alone. Terez is here to guide others when they need it most because you just never know when and if the unimaginable could happen to you.
Every day is a gift, make the most of it.
Being an Advocate is not a guarantee your loved one will survive, it’s about knowing you have done everything you possibly could have- regardless of the outcome.
It’s making such strong confident choices you do not question If you could have, should have, or would have.
